Help for heroin addicts?

In response to the April 30-May 6 front page story “Users Shielded Under Needle Exchange,” I say let heroin addicts should be left to fend for themselves after making the worst decision in their lives to use it! They are a burden on society in every way you can think of and only their dealers want them around. Let them find another state or institution to live in. Heroin addicts have no ethical or productive lives to offer and will never change, even after treatment that seems to have worked. Their treatment, of any, should depend on them giving up their suppliers as a condition of help for the very few who really want help. Get them out of our society - put them on a list as they do with sex offenders. Toughen our current laws by several magnitudes so they go away long enough to actually get clean and make their release well publicized as with sex offenders.
