Around 2:30 p.m. on March 11 over 75 people gathered in front of the Potsdam Post Office to protest the harmful healthcare bill being debated in Congress right now. The plan has been rejected by most medical organizations, including the American Medical Association, the American Hospital Association, and the American Nursing Association. The AARP has also criticized the proposal for its potential harms to the elderly. There are over $60 billion dollars in tax cuts per year for the wealthy and corporations in the proposal. Those taxes helped to ensure that everyone else was able to have affordable insurance, and most North Country residents will foot the bill for those lost taxes down the road. I am proud of the members of our community who are speaking out against it.
