I am a parent of a Parishville Headstart child. I recently received the new lunch menu for October and have noticed some major changes that I am not happy about, and I know many other parents agree. Apparently now not even the government-controlled school lunch is healthy enough for Headstart. Most of the things on the menu were crossed off because they cannot be served to our children. I can understand the desert items. It’s pushing it to understand why turkey dogs, and chicken nuggets (even though they are not fried, only baked) are not good enough, but 100% juice? Why on earth is 100% juice not good enough for our children now? Has a pediatrician looked at this and suggested this be done? Who makes the final decision? I have considered starting a petition to see how many of the other parents of Parishville Headstart agree.
