I would like to thank the community for coming out and supporting this year’s Lawrence Avenue Fun Fair. As I walked around, I was so happy to be a part of a school community that has parents who are involved in tremendous fund-raising events such as this, and to have a principal and teachers who are willing to spend three hours of their time alternately sharing the lukewarm waters of the dunking booth. Mr. Jenne, the principal, decked out in his Elmo shirt and fanciful shorts and hat, was a great sport as child after child took to the plate often dunking him with consecutive throws. I have known several administrators who rarely show their faces throughout the day, much less participate so enthusiastically, and relate so generously with the kids as Mr. Jenne. Whoever doesn’t understand this wonderful style and rapport of his, doesn’t need to. The kids do, and for that, I’m grateful and impressed.
