Goose problems in Massena won't be solved by slaughter

Posted

If the stories being told are true and Massena country club is planning on having a round up of Canadian geese for slaughter when they're molting, people around Massena should get used to this activity as this will not solve the problem, and eventually there will be just as many geese taking up residence on the course in the near future. Instead of taking this extreme measure, course management might try other more humane and more permanent measures to address the problem. Fortunately, or unfortunately, Canadian geese are a part of the north country, like any other wildlife. Golf courses that are lucky enough to be situated on a river need to learn to manage with respect to wildlife, and not just try and wipe them out.
