I agree with “No Longer ‘Union Town;” in the Oct. 15-21 issue of North Country This Week: I really think that Massena is slowly turning into a ghost town. With Alcoa barely staying around and jobs disappearing and the cost of food and gas going up high, what is going to be left here when Alcoa leaves us high and dry? What about the cost of rent, it is crazy! Just about the only ones left here are on Social Security...ones who are working two jobs and barely getting by. And landlords that think people can afford $900 a month rent when they are on a fix income, when they only get $800 a month. Some people can’t get into the project or the high-rise.
