I just read the article where a construction company donated $10,000 to Clarkson. It seems like every time I read the news Clarkson is getting, a donation, grant money, reduced rate on power, land annexed into the village or some type of monitory benefit. It is time they pay it forward and start paying more taxes. Cheel for example has fast food and a bar that if it was located off campus would be taxed. They host other events that charge admission. If Cheel was located anywhere else it would be an asset to the tax base. Last I knew annual tuition was also a pretty good pretty generator of money for the college. Clarkson is building more housing for students and these too will not be taxed. My rental properties are heavily taxed. I love having the college here, but that love does not keep my taxes from going up every year.
