I just turned 62 and one of the things I’ve learned in that time is “follow the money.” Let’s see: Potsdam economic develop or personal economic gain? Don’t be fooled: if water and sewer services are needed for economic development outside the Village of Potsdam all the town needs to do is borrow the money and build their own. Instead we have this “Let’s Dissolve the Village” campaign so that control over this resource will go from the village to the town. Think about who would benefit if we lost control over village services such as code enforcement, police services and water/sewer. Remember that there is is “economic development” and uncontrolled sprawl. Who will protect our interests when five people from the town make all the decisions?
