Colleges and universities throughout the country are finding it much tougher to maintain the student numbers needed to survive. And the Potsdam area, probably more than most areas, needs a sufficient number of students at each of its colleges to provide employment opportunities for residents. If one goes by the adage: "Your first impression is the most important" then SUNY Potsdam is in trouble as the 600 yards of Bay Street that people drive down to see the school are really a disgrace to the community. I would think that the village would want to have a more welcoming approach for our visitors.
