I keep reading that the “no” vote on dissolution of the village of Potsdam was driven by fear. To the degree that this is true, please remember that the Town of Potsdam supervisor stated in the public meeting, “only people in the village get to vote on dissolution, but we (Town officials) will determine what services are provided.” Also note that the Town of Potsdam would not enter into any memorandum of agreements regarding any aspect of dissolution despite their having representation of the study committee. So basically if you voted for dissolution you had no idea what would come. If you are threatened, then fear is an appropriate response.
