There are a lot of hunters in northern New York who buy hunting licenses in the state to hunt deer. We spend our money to conserve and manage the deer. The practice of giving some farmers 60-80 permits a year has to stop. A lot of these big farms have basically eliminated vast numbers of deer. Crop loss due to animal damage is a given. These farmers are taking away what we pay to conserve. Does the public know that some of these farmers have killed between 400-500 deer in a five year span? This can be found out by the Freedom of Information act. If this is to continue what’s the use of spending $98 a year for a license. I am positive that if all the farmer permits were taken away that not one farmer would fold. The hunters will take care of the deer.
