To the person who wrote that they were disappointed about the Potsdam Chamber Summer Festival, I would like to say I spent all three days at the festival, in part because of my job, but in part because the music and entertainment were fantastic. The return of the ice cream social on Thursday evening featuring the Norwood Brass Firemen and the sale of ice cream to benefit the Potsdam Rescue Squad was great. Seeing the stage coach offering rides throughout Potsdam was also a great addition. All the genres of music represented on the Main Stage were really refreshing. I thought that the sidewalk sales were excellent. I not only purchased sidewalk sale items from several stores downtown, but also goods from crafters in the park. The economic impact of having this many people in town has to be positive. I commend not only the staff, but the board of the chamber for such a job well done. I personally feel that these are the three days of the year that Potsdam rolls out its welcome mat and showcases why it is still the cultural heart of Northern New York.
