In reply to “Raise My Taxes” (June 16-22) to add another Canton police officer: There are already nine police officers in Canton, with a population of 6,077 (City-Data.com). In my opinion that’s three more than necessary. One officer per 1,000 people is adequate. Instead of adding officers, they should make better use of their current workforce. They are too focused on giving traffic tickets and not preventing or catching real criminals. But I suppose as long as a speeding ticket brings in more money than a drug offender or a burglar things won’t change.
