Regarding the recent NCNow Survey question, “St. Lawrence County Administrator Karen St. Hilaire, faced with a 19 percent tax increase, has proposed eliminating funding to county libraries next year.” Are you kidding me? I could go off on a rant about the rampant waste in our county system (since all one has to do is walk the halls to see who’s working and who is not) but I’ll keep it simple: modernize your system, eliminate waste, and that will save the departments that are actually of use to the taxpayers that are paying for them.
