In response to “Bus Driver Not to Blame” and “Parent Making Mistakes” (Sound Off, online only, April 11), I fully agree that the driver should not be punished. While he should not have made a threat (remember that the parent is to blame for allowing the child to behave as such) the school should have precautions to prevent bus drivers from becoming burnt out. I live about 2 hours north of Edwards-Knox Central School and the schools around here are employing part time bus monitors, assigning seats, and in worse case scenarios banning children from the bus. In the event that children just do not improve, the parents are forced to provide their own transportation for children to get to school. With recent cut backs at schools, EKCS may not be able to employ monitors, but there is no reason that a child should not be banned from bus rides.
