I’ve heard recently that the St. Lawrence County Public Health Department is the next county agency that is facing budget cuts. This is a bad idea. They will have to reduce their services if these cuts take place, such as the number of rabies clinics and the other preventative health services that they offer. Given the economic realty that we face, it is understandable that cuts do need to be made, but the Public Health Department serves as a vital life-line to so many of our county residents. Where will we turn if these health services are cut? I am asking the County Board of Legislators to please find another way! Cuts to the Public Health Department put people’s lives at risk.
