To the author of “Bad Survey Question” (Sound Off, Aug. 3-9), you say “[T]o the people that don’t think our area is tolerant, wake up. And to the ‘religious’ nay-sayers, go away.” See anything wrong with this picture? As you say, “We need to embrace all people”. Tolerance is defined as “the ability or willingness to tolerate something, in particular the existence of opinions or behavior that one does not necessarily agree with.”Did you get that last part? You hold yourself to a double standard. You preach tolerance for all, yet you are intolerant of “‘religious’ naysayers”. So, if you want tolerance, maybe you should try being tolerant yourself.
