I am appalled and disgusted with the way the clean up of the cemetery was handled! To see veteran markers tossed like junk and Memorial Day only one week away! How patriotic these volunteers are. I wonder if any of their relatives’ graves were also junked? To see the religious statues thrown in a pile like that! Someone needs to be saying their Hail Mary’s many times over. If they wanted to adopt new rules, then everyone should have been notified, and at the very least, grandfathered in with their flowers and monuments. I could understand if it was a grave that wasn't taken care of but these graves were looked after and loved! A lot of time and money sent into these gravesites and to disrespect the dead in such a way is absolutely unforgivable. I hope Rev. Howard Venette and the cemetery committee sleep well knowing how distraught the families are. By the way, a flyer passed out in church does not constitute notifying people of the new rules! Sounds like a cowards way out because upset people were to be expected and this way, they wouldn't have to be dealt with.
