To the person who wrote “Students Are No Good” (Sept. 8-14), as well as the community members that have problems with students, I am a student at SUNY Potsdam and I have lived in Potsdam for 19 years. Yes, we are loud, and can be a bit annoying at times, however if people would be respectful and maybe talk to us personally instead of calling the police to come ticket us, we would be more willing to comply with you. We are in college! We are going to go out and have fun, and to the families that live on the “college streets,” if you hate it that much, then move. It’s inevitable, college students are going to make noise. Maybe if the adults in the situation would act like adults, and discussed their issues with the actual students themselves changes might be made. Obviously calling the police isn’t working; try something different.
