Being placed on L.T.D. & S.S.I. recently because of my physical disability with one of my legs, I am finding out what it means to make a living on only half of what I was earning when I was working. This makes it hard enough to get by, along with putting a child through college. Because I make more than the standard threshold for being considered low-income, I don't qualify for the HEAP program unless I want to follow through with the guidelines of reporting with what I have for personal property, such as a house, land, vehicles, etc. I could very use help, but feel I should not have to list practically everything I own just to be considered for any aid I can get. It shouldn't be this way for us who have been placed on lower incomes due to disability payments. We should be offered the chance to have heating help without all of the restrictions in place for those of us who are considered above the lower income level.
