In response to “Hunting Dogs Can Legally Roam Properties” which appeared in the Feb. 8-13 issue of North Country This Week: we just had a dog with a radio collar come through our property. One of our dogs went crazy seeing it in the yard. Our neighbors have small children that, thankfully, were not outside. I can tell you very clearly, that the next time I see one lingering on our land, that I will let out my two 100 pound dogs and let them take a run at the intruder. And if that doesn’t work, it will get a pellet in its butt. Don’t get me wrong. I love dogs, but I will not be made afraid for my animals on my own land. If any hunter has any sense, they will make sure that they have permission for their dogs to cross property, regardless of the DEC rules.
