Damage from pets

Unfortunately, we had to change our lease a number of years ago to state no pets. The damage that was done on several occasions could not be covered by the deposit money. In one instance, the wall-to-wall carpeting had to be replaced. In other instances, the woodwork was scratched up; also, dogs were consistently barking, which annoyed other tenants, to name only a few. When renting, we were always assured that their pet would not cause any harm to any part of the apartment. Unfortunately, tenants don’t have a clue what their animals do when they are left alone during the day.
