Downtown crosswalks should be at intersections with crosswalk/pedestrian lights. Driving in Potsdam is tough enough, having four lanes of traffic bumper-to-bumper, side streets, merging traffic, bikes, trucks unloading blocking lanes and sights. Add in crosswalks to the middle of all of this. Having crosswalks in-between traffic lights and/or just feet from them doesn’t make sense. Moving crosswalks to intersections with crossing lights is the safer alternative, before someone gets hit or killed by a vehicle while crossing in the middle of busy streets with traffic coming from many directions. Pedestrians would have to walk to an intersection. None are that far away.
