I would like to know why State, County and local police advertise special weekend watches such as: Buckle Up, DWI, Seat Belt Weekend AND/OR cell phone use. Is this not the everyday job of our police force? I drive local roads each day Monday thru Friday. I have counted six state police cars in the Madrid/Norfolk area each day for the past month. I’m sure that there are two times more police cars but this is what I see on my daily rounds. With this type of protection why are there special announcements concerning poor driving habits? If I’m using my cell phone while driving during a special seatbelt weekend watch, will I be excused from breaking the law?
