Count our blessings

I have lived in the North Country for 60 years. My retirement has allowed me to leave this area during the winter months. This winter time to me is the most depressing time of the year...no sunshine...cold temperatures...too much snow. While in Florida and traveling back home, I was fortunate to experience and survive two different storms with tornados. Having been a volunteer fireman, I have never seen or witnessed any destruction equal to what these two tornados did in a matter of seconds. Homes, villages and people’s everyday lives changed in seconds. It will take years to recover from these natural events. Even though we are strapped in this North Country with winter months of cold weather, snow and an occasional ice storm, we do not experience the annual threat of flooding, tornados, hurricanes and heat waves that much of our Country does experience each year. We should count our blessings and help those who are now suffering.
