In a recent Associated Press release picked up by NorthCountryNow.com, the state estimates that the recent manhunt for escaped prisoners Sweat and Matt cost over $23 million for state police and corrections department overtime; with Border Patrol and local law enforcement costs not included. Meanwhile, the jailed and suspended prison employees who assisted in the escape of the murderers will not be deprived of their pensions. Is this a great country or what?
