I cannot see having 11 cops each way from Syracuse to Potsdam every time I ride that road. This place is crawling with bored cops. I am only referring to the state police-marked unit division. Everyone I know has a horror story of them infringing on our rights. I want to see the stats from Albany to see if this cost justifies the police presence. State police have roadblocks and have one border patrol officer with them so they can justify a federal search. The only people I see getting searched and really harassed are young people who don't know their rights or people of color. Millions of dollars are being spent on busting people for one or two joints, being on their cell phones and not having a seat belt. You never see a supervisor up here to supervise these young cops. Where is the Internal Affairs division to complain to about their tactics? The only terrorists I have seen here since Sept. 11 are the state police.
