I have seen very nice welcome sign in the North Country. But welcome to Colton...welcome to what? You say you promote the Racquette River, yet the signs show or say nothing about the many things to do when in South Colton or Colton. If you so want tourists then why not promote camping, fishing, boating, the Stone Valley Trail and whitewater, or even just the beauty and wildlife of the area. If you really want me to stop in your town then show me! An illustration is worth 1,000 words, something like running the whitewater, fishing or boating, camping, even snowmobiling or skiing. At least your original signs told something of the history of the area. Check out the welcome signs in Madrid.
