I noticed when I drive back and forth to Syracuse recently that urban blight has taken over the region. Property owners are letting their homes and farms go. They are turning into junkyards and dump with junk cars, piles of trash, and houses with roofs collapsing. The state is turning into a wasteland and I can't figure out why? Do these people figure it will reduce taxes? Do they have no sense of pride anymore? This isn't just in Potsdam with the toilet display. No matter how much we hate it, New York is a toilet! Just drive around and look at some of your neighbors. I'll bet you'll find one. Code enforcement officers need to enforce laws, but they don't. When I was a kid there was a commercial on TV that said "you got to pitch in to clean up America because if you don't pitch in to clean up America it won't be America anymore." Isn't it ironic that this commercial I remembered as a child seems to be a reality.
