It was gratifying to read the story about Edward Fischer receiving a well-deserved award for Citizen of the Year in St. Lawrence County. I can remember Ed as a corrections officer with the St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department and when tragically an inmate took his own life, Ed tried valiantly by performing one person CPR and ventilation until additional help arrived. His acts of selflessness and the concern for others is evident with his continuing service to his community. Congratulations Ed.
