I am upset that, without any formal request for public input, the Canton Town Board has approved the drafting of a law that will re-zone a large section of the Canton Russell road, paving the way for a commercial strip. Why did the board not ask for community input before having the law drafted? I live in this area because I enjoy hunting, boating and open spaces - if I wanted urban sprawl I would move to New Jersey. Canton doesn’t need more traffic or more stoplights - something the board would have found out if they had bothered to ask their constituents.
