The day of St. Lawrence County’s sales tax increase is here. The day that I will be shopping out of area has also come. Our county legislature is gutless for not cutting the budget. Instead they took the easy way out and raised taxes. I agree, lowering property taxes is a needed outcome, but instead of bleeding us via sales tax they should have cut the budget. I travel for my occupation. New Hampshire has no sales tax, Pennsylvania has less sales tax, Delaware has no sales tax. I will be buying all my appliances, televisions, computers and everything else out of area. I do not blame the local shops. I do have to draw the line. My way of protest.
