Today I read in the Courier and heard on WPDM that a mother is threatening to take legal action against Edwards-Knox Central School because a driver said he was going to smack her little darling for misbehaving. I contend that legal action should be directed against the mother for endangering the welfare of her child. According to the news report, the 7-year-old had been in trouble four times before this incident. It seems the parents are ignoring the proper procedure of raising their child, as the child continues to get into trouble. In fact, she is telling her son that it was the adult who is in the wrong. As a parent, I have seen other mothers do exactly what this mother is doing. Stick up for their little darlings when they are young and guilty, only to visit them in jail several years later. I feel bad for the 7-year-old because he is not being taught right from wrong and he is already manipulating his mother.
