Breasts are to feed

In response to “Breastfeeding in Church,” which appeared in the Aug. 30 - Sept. 5 issue of North Country This Week: I respectfully suggest you educate yourself about breastfeeding. Here are some brief points to consider. Not every breastfed baby will take a bottle. Yes, even if it's hungry. Not every mother has the milk supply to pump extra milk to put into a bottle. Furthermore, not every mother is able to pump, or can afford to buy a pump. Not every baby eats at regular intervals -- if the baby is hungry, you feed it. Period. However you feed a baby is your own personal choice. But to the counter-argument that you could feed the baby formula: not every baby can tolerate formula. Breastfeeding isn't a sexual or pornographic act. It's insulting and just plain weird to imply this. Please don't project your own convictions onto the general population. Practice some self-restraint if you and your sons can't handle getting the briefest of glances of a woman's breast. Breasts are for the woman and baby first, and everyone else second, if at all.
