I am very concerned about the work conditions some North Country employers are creating for our area breastfeeding Moms. I have spoken to several recently that wearily and resignedly share with me things that managers and co-workers have done or said to make them feel disgusting and scorned, having made acceptable arrangements to pump in an empty co-worker’s office or room only to be told she must use the bathroom or her car. This is discriminatory and I think unacceptable. People have a right to their opinion, but considering the long and short term benefit of giving breast milk, should this negativity continue? State law protects breastfeeding/pumping for a reason, it’s that important.
