If the purpose of providing education programs in prisons is to decrease recidivism and develop marketable skills, instead of a college education (a liberal arts degree offers the opportunity to ask, “Do you want fries with that?”), why not develop a BOCES type technical training program so that released prisoners will have the skills to obtain good, well paid jobs as electricians, plumbers, carpenters, welders, etc?
