The newly formed NISSA Union of BOCES support staff recently held an informational picket to bring awareness to the public about the BOCES board and their failure to negotiate a contract. It appears that the BOCES support staff has been grossly underpaid for quite some time. The home schools who send their children to BOCES all provide their support staff with competitive civil service wages but BOCES does not. I am certain the top heavy BOCES administration is provided a competitive wage yet they fail to provide the same service to the support staff. It is my hope that BOCES does the right thing and negotiates a fair contract for the employees that keep the daily operations running smoothly.
