Loud pipes saves lives. This is a lie perpetrated by the very people who have the loud pipes to excuse their obnoxious behavior. Selfish comes to mind. For whatever reason, the sound of a motorcycle with straight pipes makes them happy at the expense of everyone else. Exhaust exiting the rear of a bike does not warn other motorists in the front of the bike. When was the last time you saw air horns or a siren facing the rear of a fire engine? Maybe I can race around town and disrupt your sleeping children and elderly parents, and be a really loud disruption because I am special and I want everyone to know how special I am. Learn how sound travels, stay out of blind spots, get good headlights and realize that the sun does not rise and set around you.
