Congratulations to the Potsdam Chamber and the many businesses who hosted events or handed out treats on Fright Night. I am amazed at the generosity of the business community. I am however appalled at the behavior of both parents and children alike in the midst of all of this generosity. Kids were grabbing items from merchants, not saying trick or treat, please or thank you. I heard several parents making disparaging comments about the “lack” of goodies given out. The business community does a lot for Potsdam and this event is supposed to be a safe and enjoyable evening for all. Maybe instead of complaining, how about showing some gratitude instead, say thank you to the businesses who put this on and use increasingly sparse funds to give out goodies.
