Does any other parent who has a kid participating in a varsity sport feel they should have the option to participate in gym class or have a study hall during the season they are in their chosen sport? Students participating in a varsity sport train almost two hours daily. They are getting excellent physical exercise and learning what it’s like to be on a team. Besides, the time spent during practice does take away from their study time, however not necessarily causing a decline in their grades. Some gym activities can cause injuries to an athlete and cause them to not do well in their sport of choice, or in some cases need to sit out from practice or a game from an injury that occurred in gym class. Whatever sport they are participating in is for the school. Let’s face it, if a team is undefeated it looks pretty good for that school. And who doesn’t like to be on a winning team? I have my own opinion about this, but would like some feedback.
