I was glad to see that a committee of St. Lawrence Legislators are trying to get Amish buggies to mark their buggies with proper plaques. At least five major accidents occurred last year and who knows how many near misses. We own an ATV and a snowmobile which has to have a licensed tag and registration from New York State. Both of these have headlights and taillights and it also has to be insured. I put gas in it which is taxed to help pay for the road usage and yet I cannot ride it on the side of the road like most of these buggies do. These buggies need to be properly marked and not allowed on the roads after dark. It is against the law to ride your bicycle with no lights on the road after dark. The small amount of buggies that are on the road due to their religious freedoms jeopardies thousands of innocent tax paying citizens. If one cannot conform to the rules of the road then get off the road.
