Funeral Services for Vincent L. Boyer, age 98, of Ogdensburg, will be held at St. Mary’s Cathedral on Friday, October 25, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Joseph Morgan officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery following the funeral services. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, October 24, 2013 at Frary Funeral Home on 515 Caroline Street from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Mr. Boyer passed away on Monday, October 21, 2013 at his home.
Vincent is survived by his daughter, Mary Satterley; one grandson, Rick and his wife, Destiny, of Ogdensburg; two great grandchildren, Leeah and Jacob; and one great great grandchild, Wyott.
He was predeceased by seven sisters, Emma Bouchard, Rita Dishaw, Sister Mary Innocentia, Vesta Boyer, Beabianna Boyer, Alberta Moore and Ina Boyer; and three brothers, Euclide, Leonard and Paul Boyer.
Vincent was born on May 29, 1915 in Ogdensburg, the son of Moses J. and Emma LeBeau Boyer. He graduated from Ogdensburg Free Academy in 1933. He first went to work as a bartender and then as a head stewart at the Elks Club. In 1968 Vincent went on to work at Ogdensburg Bridge & Port Authority as a toll collector and retired in 1982. Vincent married Mary D. Miller on August 31, 1936 at St. Patrick’s Church in Watertown, with Monsignor John L. Plunkitt officiating. She predeceased him in 1972.
Mr. Boyer enjoyed fishing, gardening, reading, doing crossword puzzles and playing cards. Vincent enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, great grandchildren, family and friends. He enjoyed his morning coffee with the boys at McDonald’s.
Donations may be made in his memory to the St. Lawrence Valley Chapter of Hospice and St. Mary’s Cathedral.
