Raymond Charles Colton Sr, 78, beloved husband of Marie Irma passed away peacefully at home Tuesday, August 31.
Raymond was born in Clare, the son of the late Worth & Evelyn Weston Colton. He had lived in Enfield for almost 25 years until moving to Somers where he had resided for the last 28 years.
Raymond worked for Pratt & Whitney Aircraft until 1979 when he founded his own company: Colton Associates of Chicopee, Massachusetts. Raymond’s generous, thoughtful, compassionate, and loving personality will be deeply missed by all, his family and business associates.
Raymond was a decorated US Army veteran having served in the Korean War and was the recipient of a Purple Heart, a Bronze Star, Combat Infantry Badge, US Presidential Unit Citation, and South Korean Presidential Unit Citation with 5 Battle Stars. He was a Fire Commissioner of Thompsonville, member of the former Claddaugh Club, chairman of the Somers Senior Housing Authority for 21 years, a past commander & life member of the Disabled American Veterans Enfield Chapter 52, a member of the Korean War Veterans, member of VFW Post 1501 and All Saint Church of Somers.
In 2004 Raymond authored the book Sacrificial Lambs 24th Division Korea July 1950.
Raymond is survived by his wife of 57 years, Marie Irma Morin Colton; his daughter, Sharon Saviski and her partner Bill Granata of Broad Brook; his son, Raymond Colton, Jr. of Enfield; his grandchildren, Jacob & Joshua Saviski, Julie Sorensen, and Laura and David Colton; great-grandchildren, Caitlin Vincent and Tyler Sorensen; and great-great grandchild Zachary Hulevitch.
He is also survived by his brother Arnold Colton of Clare; and two sisters, Barbara Harrington and her husband Robert of Canton, and Carol Ufford and her husband David of New Hampshire; and his dear friends, Sharon Berkley of Enfield, and Marie and Ralph Burnett of Somers.
Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels 43 Shaker Rd Enfield had been entrusted with Raymond’s arrangements.
