Ronald L. Cady, 55, of Cady Drive Madrid, passed away unexpectedly Thursday afternoon, May 9, 2013 at his home.
Ron was born on October 3, 1957 in Potsdam, the son of Dean and Edna (Johnston) Cady. He graduated from Madrid-Waddington High School in 1971. He married Nancy Lucas on September 1, 1979 at St. John the Baptist Church in Madrid with Rev. Msgr. Joseph Bailey presiding. Ron was employed at Niagara Mohawk that was later known as at Orion Power in Potsdam. He was employed as a traveling operator for Orion later known as Brookfield Power until he became disabled in 2006.
Ron enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing and watching sporting events. He took great joy in being with his grandchildren. He was a past volunteer for the Madrid Volunteer Fire Department and also played softball in the Men’s League.
Ron is survived by his wife Nancy, his parents, Dean and Edna Cady of Madrid; a son, Michael and Heather of Potsdam; his daughter, Angela Poste of Colton; six grandchildren, a sister, Laurie and Peter Hayes of Madrid; two brothers, Steven and Sue Cady of Oxford OH, Fred and Gillian of Norfolk, VA; several nieces and nephews.
Those wishing to remember Ron may do so by contributions to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 41705, Boston, MA 02241, Madrid Volunteer Fire Department or Madrid Rescue Squad. Memorial Services for Ron will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 am at Phillips Memorial Home in Madrid with Rev. Rick Sinclair, Pastor of the Christian Fellowship Center. There will be no calling hours.
