I have nothing against people riding motorcycles, nor does the sound of 15 motorcycles driving by bother me. However, what does bother me is the attitude of some motorcycle drivers on the road. It bothers me when I hear motorcycle drivers complain about how people driving cars, trucks, vans, etc. need to be careful and mindful of those driving motorcycles. I hear advertisements to “look twice” in the summer for motorcycles and not to pull out in front of them. I would like to see the same respect for safety in return. Twice this year I was traveling the speed limit when people on motorcycles passed me. No big deal right? Normally it wouldn’t be, but these people decided to pass in a no passing zone, and the second incident was going up a slight hill. Once these people passed, they were gone, obviously breaking the speed limit quite significantly. So, all that I’m saying to people who ride bikes, please drive safely yourselves before you start complaining about other people’s safety measures on the road. Bike riders do not own the road, you share it. I also agree with the person who wrote in about motorcycles riding side-by-side. You take up too much of the road, ride one behind the other.
