Assemblyman Marc W. Butler, who represents central St. Lawrence County, has been named the ranking Republican member of the Assembly Committee on Standing Committees.
The committee’s roll is to ensure that the other committees run smoothly and efficiently in order to make sure that legislation makes it out of committee and to the assembly floor for a vote.
“In my new role as ranking Republican member on the Committee on Standing Committees, I will be working to ensure that legislation important to middle-class families and our communities doesn’t get stuck in committee,” said the Republican from Newport. “I will work with our committee rankers to identify important bills to bring to the assembly floor for debate, especially measures that lower taxes, improve the economy and other items to make New York a more affordable and attractive place to live. I thank Minority Leader Brian Kolb for the opportunity to serve in this new role.”
In addition to Butler’s new assignment, he will continue to serve on the Agriculture, Economic Development, Higher Education, Insurance and Environmental Conservation Committees.
