POTSDAM -- The St. Lawrence County Arts Council has launched a “Transition Campaign,” which hopes to raise $100,000 by April.
The highlight of the campaign will be a “Transition Gala” Saturday, Feb. 9 at 5 p.m. at the Crary Mills Grange Hall. The gala will include a potluck dinner and annual meeting, followed by live music.
The funding drive aims to facilitate the smooth transition of leadership to the new executive director and allow for future growth.
The campaign will include a variety of events and opportunities for individuals and businesses to support the council.
The primary mission of the council is to develop and promote arts in St. Lawrence County. The council supports the work of local artists, art education and cultural enrichment activities. The council’s work includes the art$TART grant program, which provides for increased art programming in local schools, as well as festivals, the Arists’ Studio tour and concerts.
The campaign has raised $5,765.00 since its inception in November and hopes to raise a total of $100,000 by the end of April. Money raised by the campaign will contribute to council planning, staff training, promotional support and the development of an operational infrastructure.
Contributions to the campaign can be made online, by mail, or in person at 51 Market St.
The drive will also include community surveys to determine current and future programming.
