CANTON -- The Route 68 bridge over Grannis Brook is expected to open before the end of the week.
New York State Department of Transportation Spokesman Michael Flick said the bridge could open as soon as Tuesday, or as late as Friday.
"I've heard it could be open (Tuesday), but it might not be open until the end of the week," he said.
Flick the $600,000 project began in August and was coming along as scheduled with a completion date set for Nov. 26.
The project has detoured traffic several miles around the crossing for the past month as contractors removed and replaced the bridge decking.
The Grannis Brook project was part of a $31 million DOT project involving deck replacements of six bridges in St. Lawrence, Jefferson, Franklin and Lewis counties.
