Funeral services for Dorothy M. Bayley, 79, formerly of Andrews Street, Massena will be held Saturday August 14, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of the Sacred Heart in Massena. Friends may visit with the family on Friday August 13, 2010 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Phillips Memorial Home, Massena.
Dorothy passed away Tuesday afternoon (August 10, 2010) surrounded by family at the St. Regis Nursing Home.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Snow Vanessa and Henrik Babakhani of California; a son, Hawk Bayley and daughter in-law Toni-Marie of California; a sister, Norma Roscoe of Syracuse; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a sister, Mary Gero; and brothers Charles and Thomas Mayhew.
Mrs. Bayley was born in Ft. Covington July 25, 1931 the daughter of Charles and Anna (McCarthy) Mayhew. She was married to Glen F. Bayley June 4, 1954 at St. Mary's Church, Ft. Covington by Rev. Edmund Dumas. Mr. Bayley died in 1993. Mrs. Bayley moved back from California in 1994 and had resided in Massena before entering the St. Regis Nursing Home in 2009.
Dorothy was an avid reader. She enjoyed traveling with her friends. She volunteered at the Wayne T. Moses Arthrits Clinic. She was especially close to her niece Lisa Horton, Mary's daughter, Lisa, looked to her as a mother in the absence of her mother Mary Gero's passing. She was a child caregiver at a non-profit preschool in LaCanada, CA for over 10 years, before returning to New York. Dorothy talked daily to Snow, always counsel, love, guide and support in all ways. She was overjoyed with her grandchildren, Liam and Jordan Bayley.
