Roberta Joyce Webber, 84, of 33 Amherst Road, passed away on Monday, September 24th, 2012, At Fletcher-Allen Medical Center, Burlington, Vermont, where she had been a patient since Thursday.
Roberta was born April 26th, 1928, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, the daughter of the late Robert J. and Olive Ruthven Forstell. She attended Massena High school, graduating in 1945. She then attended Syracuse University for 3 years until 1948. She married Wesley A. Webber on October 23rd, 1948, in Massena. He predeceased her on August 24th, 2008.
She was employed as a Registered Nurse and attended Empire State College for two years in the 70’s receiving a Bachelor of Science degree. She continued working at Massena Memorial Hospital until going to work for the St. Lawrence County Department of Public Health. Roberta also worked for Parishville-Hoptinkin, Norwood-Norfolk, and Madrid Waddington school districts. Lastly, she worked at the Well Child Clinic in Massena.
Roberta was a member of the Emmanuel Church of Christ, and also a member holding several offices both local and state wide in the Order of Eastern Star, Cretona Chapter #516, and was also active in the Massena Business BPW. She enjoyed traveling and cruises extensively, and for over 20 years spent winters at Fort Myers, FL. Roberta loved her pet dog “Baby Girl Liesl”.
Roberta is survived by her three sons, Bruce Webber of Massena, Brian and Romelle Webber of Carrollton, VA, and Blaine Webber of Massena; five grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
She was predeceased by her grandson Robert Bruce on May 7th, 1983.
Per her wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral services.
